Aroma: Lemon eucalyptus has a light, fresh,
citronella-like aroma.
Extraction: Steam distillation from
fresh leaves and young twigs.
Characteristics: Colorless or pale
yellow light liquid.
Benefits: On the physical level the
antiseptic and antiviral actions of
lemon eucalyptus are useful in
removing germs, naturally, from
surfaces and the air. Skin infections,
herpes, insect bites and wounds benefit
from eucalyptus. The decongestant actions
of eucalyptus benefits bronchitis, coughs, sinusitis and throat infections. The oil from the leaves of the eucalyptus citriodora tree has been used for centuries to kill insects and mites. It is especially useful to deter mosquitoes. A synthetic form of the active constituent in Lemon Eucalyptus has been tested by the CDC and approved by the EPA to combat the spread of the West Nile Virus.
Blends: Eucalyptus citriodora blends well with Thyme, Rosemary, Lavender, Marjoram, Pine, Cedarwood, and Lemon.
